Highlights of Renaissance Milan including the The Castello Sforzesco

This walking tour is a wonderful introduction to Milan.  We learn about life in Milan during the Renaissance. We will visit il Duomo, Vittorio Emanuele gallery, La Scala square and museum.   We will savor a stop at Pecks where you will discover the best in Italian wines and gastronomy! We will take the subway to the Castello Sforzesco and visit its ‘Sala delle Assi’ Leonardesca and the Stone Rondinini byMichelangelo Buonarroti, the Church of Bramante S. Maria at S. Satiro with marvellous prospective. We will take the subway back also.

Enjoy Bergamo & Monza – Beautiful and important cities historically and artistically speaking

We will make our way to the delightful hill top town of Bergamo which owes must of its artistic inspiration and architectural splendour to the influence of Venice. We will take the cable car up to the Antique City… You can sit, shop or enjoy the city, or take the Walk to see the Cittadellà down through the cobbled stone main street into the Piazza Vecchia (containing one of the most appealing architecture ensembles in the region) where we will see the late 16th century Biblioteca, the University, the beautiful Contarini Fountain, the Palazzo della Ragione, Baptistry, Colleoni’s Chapel, the Neo-Classical Duomo and the beautiful Romanesque Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. There will be time to explore on own and enjoy lunch in one of the pavement café bars around the Piazza Vecchia or along one of the cobbled stoned alleyways before returning to Milan.

Asti, Outlets, & a visit with snacks and wine tasting at local winery.

      

We stop at the Serravalle Outlet with over 170 stores including clothing, footwear and accessories shops with the best brands. It is more than just a place to make a few purchases, it is a chance to have a unique shopping experience in exclusive boutiques. These shops face small squares joined by meandering streets, in the architectural charm of a historic 18th century Ligurian town centre, immersed in the greenery of the surrounding hills.

We will then make our way to the beautiful and medieval town of Asti. Located in the centre of Piemont, the city of Asti is almost an entirely hilly territory crossed by the River Tanaro and connecting the most important roads from Roman times. Asti is known above all for its wines: the vineyards cover a large part of the hills of Monferrato. We will stop at a Bottega del Vino where we will enjoy a very unique wine tasting.

 

March 28th -Wednesday   (full day tour)  

 

Escape to beautiful Lake Maggiore             $95

 

This full day tour will take us away from the city and across the Lombard plain into Piemonte to Lake Maggiore, one of Piemonte’s most beautiful areas.   This long expanse of water nestles right up against the mountains and stretches away into Alpine Switzerland with gently sloping shores which are dotted with camellias, azaleas and verbena vegetation. We will enjoy the highlights of Lake Maggiore taking in such towns as Arona, Lesa and Belgirate and Stresa.  We will take a boat to visit “3” Borromean Islands (Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori & Isola Madre) in the Gulf and explore their beautiful palaces and gardens.  Lunch on your own in one of the towns are lined with 19th century villas and beautiful promenade gardens as well as a selection of small boutiques.
